If your children have a tree house or a play set with a little house off the ground, I'll bet they would just love it if you gave them meal service one day with a homemade dumb-waiter.
Here you see my brother and a friend when they were little receiving their lunch in a bucket from my mother. They had taken a piece of string and tied it to the handle of a bucket and then flung the string over a branch so they could raise or lower the bucket at will. I'm sure it gave them a feeling of adventure to be able to stay up in the tree past lunch time. And I'm sure the tree house setting made the food taste extra good!
